What Teens Are Facing

What to Expect at MPOWRD Meetings

At MPOWRD, every meeting is an opportunity to connect, share, and grow. If you’re looking for a place where you can truly be yourself and talk about the things that matter, you’ve found it. Here’s what makes our meetings special:

Peer-Led:

Every meeting is led by teens, for teens. This means you and your peers are in charge, creating a safe space to discuss what’s really on your mind. It’s all about supporting each other.

Open and Honest:

At MPOWRD, we believe in honesty and openness. You can share your feelings, challenges, and successes in a supportive environment where everyone is encouraged to be their authentic self.

Structured for Support:

Each meeting follows a structured format that includes introductions, a main discussion on a topic chosen by the group (like dealing with stress or building confidence), and a closing.

Inspirational:

Get inspired by stories of how others are navigating their challenges and making changes in their lives. These meetings are a chance to gain new perspectives and learn from the experiences of your peers.

Empowering:

MPOWRD meetings empower you to take control of your life, make healthier choices, and step up as a leader. Whether it’s through leading a meeting, sharing your story, or supporting a friend.

Fun and Engaging:

Yes, our meetings are about tackling serious topics, but we also have fun doing it! Expect activities, games, and maybe even some laughter. It’s all part of making sure everyone feels comfortable.

Teen FAQs

MPOWRD is a program designed specifically for teens like you, providing a safe space to talk, share, and grow together. It’s all about empowering you through peer-led support groups where everyone gets a chance to lead, share, and support each other.

Joining is easy! You can contact us directly at info@mpowrd.org to find out about meetings in your area. If there isn’t a group near you, we can help you get one started or you can check out our How-To (here) for a step-by-step, do-it-yourself guide.

Each meeting includes a mix of discussions, activities, and sometimes guest speakers. You’ll have a chance to talk about the things that are on your mind in a supportive environment, hear from others who might be facing similar challenges, and learn new ways to handle whatever life throws your way.

No preparation needed! Just come as you are, ready to listen and share. Some meetings might have a theme or topic announced beforehand, but there’s no need to prepare anything unless you want to.

Absolutely! MPOWRD meetings are more impactful with friends. If you know someone who could benefit from or contribute to our sessions, feel free to bring them along.

No, there’s no cost to join MPOWRD. Our meetings and most activities are completely free, thanks to our supporters and community partners who believe in empowering teens.

That’s completely normal, and you won’t be forced to share anything you’re not comfortable with. You can participate at your own pace, and many find that just listening at first helps them feel more comfortable over time.

MPOWRD isn’t just about discussing problems—it’s about finding solutions and support. Through our meetings, you’ll learn practical ways to handle stress, improve communication, and build confidence, which can help both in school and in your personal life.
